Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Christine Ekstrand, who serves patients in Los Angeles, California.

Being a knowledgeable orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Ekstrand is trained to treat and diagnose all forms of injury to the musculoskeletal system, including the joints, muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments. She is in practice with University Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery, a part of UCLA Medical Group in Los Angeles, California.

One of her primary interests is regenerative medicine, helping the body to counteract and slow the natural progression of aging by using plasma and stem cell treatments as well as other remedies for various problems such as chronic tendon degeneration, partial tendon tears, and cartilage defects of various body parts. 

Due to the overwhelming good results with treatments, Dr. Ekstrand has expanded the plasma/stem cell treatments for facial and hair treatments, including sun damage, scars, and aging. Every patient receives a comprehensive individual evaluation and examination, after which a detailed plan will be devised for restoring musculoskeletal function with return to activities of daily living and activities of choice as well as rejuvenation of body parts which have been damaged from trauma or aging.

Licensed to practice medicine in California, Dr. Ekstrand is affiliated with Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and Providence Saint John’s Health Center. Since 2000, she has been serving as a Clinical Instructor at the University California, Los Angeles.

Among her professional affiliations, she is a member of the California Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Medical Women’s Association, and the American Medical Association.

A 1995 graduate of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, Dr. Ekstrand decided to further her training after graduation. She completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Recognized as an expert in her field, she is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). To ensure safe, ethical, and effective practice of orthopedic surgery, the ABOS maintains the highest standards for education, practice, and conduct through examination, certification, and maintenance of certification for the benefit of the public.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
